Sweetiedoodles
Petite Mini Teddy Bear Goldendoodles in Michigan
Specializing in Toy Goldendoodles under 20lbs

Sweetie Doodles was started in 2010 by two friends with a passion for Goldendoodles and the mutual goal of breeding healthy, quality pets suitable for every family.

About Dina:

I’m Dina, proud co-owner of Sweetiedoodles.  I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my 17 year old son.  We joke the puppies get their dose of "city living" when at my home.

Since I was young, I have dreamed of getting to have a career being a dog breeder. The thought of getting to experience the joy of puppies, and having them brighten my day.  Who could ask for more?

Now I have that life, with dogs, and the cute puppies, and even more. My days also include lots of hard work, more poop scooping than you can imagine, constant research, coming up with new long term plans for the business, deciding important things, and magical moments as puppies come into the world and also the bittersweet feeling that comes when my puppies leave for their new homes.

I thought being a breeder would be a solitary career, but I have been pleasantly surprised this has not been the case. Getting to experience all of this with my friend and partner, Misty, has been a blessing like none other. We are also surrounded by so many dog lovers, trainers, vets, and our clients.  It is so fulfilling to be around people who know that dogs add so much to our lives and transform them just by being a part of them.

Misty and I decided 10 years ago to try making our dream a reality. We started small (literally and figuratively) with AKC apple head Chihuahuas to see if breeding would be something that could be more than just a dream. My parents both had allergies and wanted a dog they could live with, that also wouldn't shed.  We talked it over and decided to go with Goldendoodles for our next breed.  Misty already had a lifelong love of Poodles, so it was a great fit.

This has all been so gratifying for me. I do not think anything else could be as wonderful as bringing together puppies and people.  I believe in our breeding program, and developing and providing the best temperament we can!

About Misty:

I am Misty, the other proud owner of Sweetiedoodles. I live in the country on 14 acres, complete with chickens.

Since my first dog in 3rd grade, I have known that I wanted to spend my life around dogs. I got a job to support my "hobby" and spent many years training, fostering, and rehabilitating dogs. When I had my daughter in 2006, I knew I would no longer have as much free time to spend working with dogs, so decided my career should be working with them instead. I went to college and became a Licensed Veterinary Technician, which was the second best decision of my life. I loved being a LVT, and enjoyed my job immensely. (It helped that I could bring my Poodle to work with me!)

While working with rescues fostering and rehabilitating dogs, it was pretty clear that many breeders of the dog's that the public wanted did not care about the health and long term well being of the puppies they were selling. The breeders that cared about their dogs the most were the breeders that were breeding show dogs and working dogs, not pets. (This is not true of all breeders! At that time, the dogs I was seeing at rescues were poorly bred popular dogs.) I thought over and over, someone who has ethics needs to start breeding dogs so it is harder for backyard breeders and puppy mills to sell these poorly bred dogs. I also watched many people turned away from rescues for one reason or another, and end up buying a puppy from exactly the people who were breeding unhealthy dogs. It was incredibly frustrating.

After becoming a Licensed Veterinary Technician and taking to the medical side of dog care so well, and learning a lot about genetics and discovering that I love it, I realized I could breed good healthy dogs. My friend Dina was also interested in breeding, and with our combined background we made the perfect team, so it only seemed right to take the leap together and go into business as co-owners.

After breeding just a couple of litters of Chihuahuas we both realized that this was it, this is what we both loved and wanted to do. I love my Poodles and was more than willing to breed AKC Poodles, but my criteria for breeding is breed what the majority of people want as pets, and breed them high quality. I really wanted to breed dogs that didn't shed, and the Goldendoodle fit both of those goals perfectly, even though I was unsure about "diluting" my beloved Poodle! Fortunately, after breeding our very first litter of Goldendoodles, I found that I LOVED Goldendoodles. The bouncy goofy nature of the Poodle was still there, but so was the Golden Retriever's personality which made a unique, fun, awesome dog. The versatility of this breed is wonderful, he have had our puppies go on to be hunting dogs, Emotional Support Dogs, Therapy Dogs, family pets with lots of kids, hiking companions, and much more. I couldn't be more thrilled about our decision to start breeding Goldendoodles!

Petite Mini English Teddy Bear Goldendoodles & Toy Micro English Teddy Bear Goldendoodles In Michigan

At Sweetie Doodles we raise Petite Mini English Teddy Bear Goldendoodles and Toy Micro English Teddy Bear Goldendoodles that are not only beautiful, but will fit right into your home and life. We do this by focusing on only Petite Mini and Micro sizes (also called Toy, Miniature, or Small Standard, sometimes Teacup) with the same great personality and looks as the full size English Teddy Bear Goldendoodles.

Our English Teddybear Goldendoodles have that unique "Teddy Bear" head and low to non-shedding coats. We realize that many people these days are allergic to dogs, and our goal is to produce dogs for people with dog allergies. While no dog is 100% hypo-allergenic, there are many breeds which the American Kennel Club (AKC) recommends for people with allergies. Our dogs are produced from breeds that produce low to non-shedding coats which produce less dander. People with allergies are allergic to the dander and saliva, not necessarily the hair. Being allergy friendly is one of the reasons we breed Doodles.

All of our parents have been evaluated by a professional trainer and passed with flying colors. We also have the first two litters of every breeding dog evaluated, to ensure that all our puppies have a great personality! All to insure that you are getting the best puppy to fit your life!

We absolutely love our sweet Petite Mini & Toy Micro (also called Toy, Miniature, or Small Standard, sometimes Teacup), English Teddy Bear Goldendoodles. We are sure once you learn about them, you will love them just as much as we do. Doodles are an intelligent and obedient family companion. They are everybody's friend, and they are devoted to their family. They are friendly towards children, other dogs, and pets and comfortable with strangers. They are social dogs, happiest when they are with people. Their intelligence, eagerness to please, and love of learning make them very easy to train.
